Abstract:

Mobile ad hoc network is a specific type of wireless networks in whichnodes may move. This type of network is established without anydefinite structure and they are mostly applied in wars, rescue missionsin damaged area, conferences and so on. Several routing protocolshave been proposed matching characteristics of such networks amongwhich AODV is an important one. In this study two modified versionsof AODV i.e. J-AODV and IAODV are investigated and theirperformances are compared to conventional AODV. The obtainedresults demonstrated that J-AODV achieves better performance comparing to AODV as it improves average delay and networkoperational power. The results of IAODV also illustrate that packetdelivery delay is reduced. Furthermore, routing overhead is decreasedthrough reducing frequency of route discovery process.
